My name is Eileen Kang and I am delighted to be serving as the Head Chair of the SDG 5 Committee for the November Conference. As a senior at United Nations International School of Hanoi, I have had the pleasure of attending four conferences as different positions over the past two years. Through MUN, I encountered a series of challenges that strengthened my competence in MUN as well as my interpersonal skills. Although conferences can be a challenging process, it is very rewarding in the end, and I hope all Delegates can share this enjoyable experience.

I am looking forward to seeing fruitful debates and seeing delegates establish resolutions so we can collectively learn and grow as a committee!

Hello! My name is Audrey Hanson and I am a sophomore at Unis Hanoi International School of Hanoi. This is my third year participating in MUN and my first time as a chair. I loved being a delegate but am also looking forward to learning more about chairing. I am ecstatic to meet and collaborate with more people and am looking forward to a great year. MUN is an amazing opportunity to further our knowledge about the world and create unique solutions. In addition to MUN, I participate in Apac volleyball and love baking during my free time.

This upcoming conference, I will be chairing the SDG 5 committee, or gender equality. I am very interested and passionate about this topic, as I believe it affects our day to day life. Through researching and collaborating, I hope we can create a well written resolution that will reduce the severity of this issue. I can’t wait to broaden my knowledge on this topic!

I expect that we will all work very hard in order to have the best possible conference. To conclude, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns and I hope delegates will have a wonderful MUN conference!

Faculty Mentor

Ms. Maire is the council mentor for the SDG 5 committee. She has been an English teacher at the United Nations International School of Hanoi since 2018. Before working as a teacher, she worked for an NGO in New York for convicted felons who were minors. She wrote reports and tried to assist these children in any way she could. Throughout her life, she found herself in teaching positions, and decided to go back to school to get her masters degree for teaching. Her decision to teach was also inspired by her sister. This is Ms. Maire’s first year participating in MUN and joining to learn more and help her community.

Ms. Maire is very passionate about the sustainable development goal relating to gender equality. A close friend of hers works to end child marriage around the world, therefore she is very interested in these issues. Ms. Maire believes that issues surrounding gender equality are all around us, and therefore pivotal to solve.

Additionally, Ms. Maire believes Model United Nations is a very valuable opportunity for students. Not only is it an opportunity to expand their knowledge, but also to develop skills they will use for the rest of their lives. She is looking forward to the upcoming conference, and wants to congratulate all delegates for working so hard.
